In the past two years, I've been to New York City four times, and everytime, even if I am not seeing the show, I make it a point to walk past our beloved Nederlander. Everything from the bright blue dumpster to the life size photographs of the Original Broadway Cast give me a sense of coming home to a friendly and warm place. A safe place. Unfortunately though, our theater is in a state of disarray. Some fans enjoy going to the theater and illegally expressing their feelings for the show on the facade of the building. It is perfectly fine to love this show and love the message and the actors and the man who wrote it, but vandalism is wrong. Even positive vandalism. I'm almost embarressed to call the Nederlander my Broadway home because it is the only theater that sports that kind of thing. The root of the vandalism is unknown. Some think that the fans who write on the facade of the building think that they are writing on the famous Rent Wall located backstage that has been signed by such legends as Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman. A few weeks ago a group of fans got together for a Nederlander Cleanup. Armed with Pinesol and Mr. Clean they arrived at the theater under the cover of night and scrubbed their little hearts out. By four in the morning, they had made a huge difference and the theater finally looked decent again.

There is still a lot of work to be done to make the theater look it's best again, and rumors flying around that the clean up crew has been banned from the lotto.

If you'd like to support our cause of getting rid of the grafitti once and for all, sign this petition and let your voice be heard.

http://www.petitionspot.com/signature/CleanOurTheater

Source
http://community.livejournal.com/rent/2244052.html

Meme stolen from maki_to13

Write to fourteen or so people that you want or need to say. Names needn't be mentioned, and some people don't even have LJ. This is more to vent than anything else. Who knows? Maybe you can guess which is addressed to you.

1. You completely flew off the handle and over reacted the other day. Just because you thought that he was breaking made up plans with you. The only thing you want him to do is get fired. We all know. You just want that so that he'll spend more time with you. Did you ever think that maybe he likes what he does...no. I know he hates it...but that doesn't mean that he wants to get fired. The other day I was appalled at how much you acted like a spoiled and rotten brat. He never gets to spend any time with me, and he's probably my best friend. You can shove your apologies where the sun don't shine.

2. My God, you're probably one of the nicest, sweetest, most brilliant person I've ever met. I just wish you weren't so depressing all the time. Although...I suppose I can't control that. Can I?

3. I really hope you're not a Jesus freak. I mean really! Who goes to Florida to visit Holy Land? God, you're beautiful. I can't wait until you get back.

4. You broke my heart the other night when you told me how much you hated your parents. I feel so bad for you. I know there are worse things in the world than dry and uptight parents, but when I'm with you and them in the same room...I can almost feel how smothered you are. By the way, you're amazing. I don't really mean all the jokes. Come out of the closet when you're ready. Or...don't. Who knows? Maybe you really are straight.

5. I'm really sad that we drifted apart because of a boy...but you should've backed off. You know better than that...or maybe you don't. I have no idea.

6. I'm sorry I haven't called. Please don't die.

7. Why don't you notice me? We've been friends for almost a year now. You looked so damn sexy running in the ran yesterday. I had to do everything that I could to remind myself that you don't like me that way and I have a semi love interest in Florida.

8. He brought it to my attention the other day what an annoying, mental, insane bitch you are...and really, I have to agree. Maybe if you didn't sit down everyday with us and say "You guys need to be extra quiet today because I have a huge headache that will not go away. I think ***** likes me, but I'm not sure. Hmmm...I think I have a chance! What should I do?" Blech.

9. I feel myself growing closer to you and it really scares me. I'll just get set up for heartbreak once again.

10. HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY DAD!

And...that's all I really have.

Oh c'mon guys! I comment on all your entries. Just take a second to let me know that people out there like me.
I talked to my love interest on the phone for an hour tonight. It felt like five minutes, but it was a whole hour. He's going to be in Florida for the next week, so I won't see him for a little while...which is kind of depressing.

COMMENT!

I've just finished a great book.

Some of you may have heard of the movie that came out around December called Children of Men, and I bet you're thinking "Oh Rebecca, I saw the movie and it sucked." or "I saw the movie and it was awesome. I don't need to read the book with the same story."

WRONG!

The book is one of the best I've read since I stopped reading Stephen King for some weird reason. It kind of upsets me how I have so little time to read these days. I used to be finished a book in two weeks tops. This book is 2 months overdue from the library.
Anyway, enough of that tangent.

It's a wonderful story that I recommend to all.

Other news:
My show ended on Saturday. It was...well...really a crap show that I wasn't really proud of at all. My love interest. Hmm...Well...lets just say things are going okay in that area of my life. I'm going to ask him to see a movie with me this weekend.
I wish more exciting things were going on. Comment and tell me of all your adventures so that I may live vicariously.

Wow I figure out that LARGE LETTERS MAKE PEOPLE READ MY POST!

Ha ha. Just kidding. No more caps. I promise.

Okay. I promised I'd talk about my life. Didn't I? If not, well...that's what you're gonna get. And every so often I'll post a meme or a fic, but mostly this journal is for support. I mean, I know most if not all of you are going through more shit than I could ever handle, and I respect you all for that. And in return I vow to support ya'll and comment back.

But that's not all!

Don't expect just whining on this journal! No. There will be plenty of laughs and stories to be shared. Oh! And much snarkyness.

First notion of business:
Well...you see...I have this...love interest.
He's a boy I met at rehearsal for the production I'm in.

He's the same age as me, very sweet, very smart, and very affectionate. I flirt with him...and I think he flirts back, but I'm not sure if he's really interested in me.

So here's the deal. The show ends in a week and a half and in that time I really want to get him to like me a lot so that I can ask him out.

Advice? Stories? Complaints? Rotten fruit?
All is appreciated.

It's finally time to stop being lazy and start being active again.

I'm really desperatly hoping that people on my f-list see this

and say, "I remember her. She was cool. Let me start being her friend again."
Yeah. I'm talking to you! YES! YOU!
Wanna know what's going on in my life? Not too much to tell.
Gained alot of weight.
Got really sad.
Started loosing friends.
Peachy, isn't it?
Anyway, I'm not here to whine. I'm collecting my life together and I want to keep my friends posted (if I still have any left.)
So if you saw this
COMMENT!
And don't complain that I killed your F-list by making this huge.
My Rent Pilgramage

Yay! My life is definatly complete. I'm actually writing from my cousin's apartment in Queens and I'm still buzzing from last night. I'll start with the arrival in NY. The moment we got to Queens we were out and about. The first place on our tour was the East Village. I just had to see it. We walked all around and I was just...awed by how alive this whole city is. Its weird...but I kinda felt like I belonged there. So we visited 11th street and Avenue B and I took a picture of the sign and the building. It was cool. I mentioned that I was having an out of body Rent expirience. Next stop was The Life Cafe. Let me just dispell the myths. Nothing mentioned in LVB is actually served in The Life Cafe. Except fries...and the tables aren't (unfortunatly) sturdy enough for dancing on. Then, of course, was Tompkins Square Park. Dayum, that park was beautiful. We just walked around and looked at the dogs in the dog park.
Next stop Broadway! We took a cab up to 42nd street and I just...I think my brain exploded! Just the buildings and the lights and the sounds. It was so great! We basically just walked around for a while, looking at the different theatres. We finally got to the Nederlander and nothing was really going on there except there were people standing in line for the lotto. Anyway...we're walking away from the theatre to go to dinner...were walking down the street...and...theres this hefty black woman walking towards me on a cell phone and she comes closer and I hear "No...our Maureen isn't here tonight." I turn around as she passes me and I think. "HOLY SHIT ITS FRENCHIE DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Trust me. If she hadn't been on her cell phone I would've stopped her...although she'd probably get pissed at me...I'm kind of afraid of her. But still IT WAS FRENCHIE FUCKING DAVIS! And now I hold myself in a high place as being the first person to know that Maureen's understudy was going on that night.
So dinner...blah blah blah fancy resturant...then Back to the Nederlander!
I still haven't resgistered that I actually saw the show. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

1. Christopher J. Hanke- So freaking cute! The fact that this is his first week made it...unpredictable. I really don't regret that I didn't see Matt Caplan. I think Christopher was the shit. And...after the song Rent, he was leaving the stage and he tripped and fell over a chair. It was so cute. And He is amazing at both the comedic scenes and the serious ones.
2. Tim Hower- *drool* Sexy sexy sexy. He has an amazing Rock and roll voice...and I was glad to finally not hear someone go high on that one note in OSG *coughadamcough*
3. Antonique Smith- You know...I really never thought I'd like anyone as much as Daphne, but Antonique was hot. Her Out Tonight was amazing...although it threw me off how low her voice was. Whatever.
4. Destan Owens- Amazing Gosple-y voice. His ICYR made me cry...and I never cry during that scene. Although...of course I'll always love Jesse the best.
5. D'Monroe- Don't haver much to say about him. He was good.
6. Nicole Lewis- I'm...not so sure about her. I just...didn't see her as a Joanne. Maybe cause she was too skinny...but her voice just wans't big enough. TMOLM didn't really blow the roof off like it was supposed to.
7. Haven Burton- Eh. She was okay for an understudy.
8. Shaun Earl- Great. Loved loved loved loved loved his T4U.

And...thats it. Afterwards I sprinted out the theatre for pictures. First I got...Shaun Earl. He was really sweet. Then I got Destan Owens. He was incredibly cute. Went over to Haven Burton. Mentioned how she kinda looks like Kristin Chenowith. Got Antonique. She was cute. OMG! Then Christopher J. Hanke came out. What a sweetheart! Got a great picture with him. He's just sooooo freakin' adorable. I can't get over it. I gave him an awkward hug. And finally Tim Hower. So very sweet. Some of us were waiting around while he talked to a mom with her kids...cause he's just that sweet. Got his autograph and a picture. HE put his arm around ME! For the record! Tim Hower is a cuddler! I gave him a big hug, cause he rocks! and thats the end. My Rent Pilgramage. Today we're off to Strawberry Fields.

ITS NOT A MEME! I must be dreaming!

Sigh. Very bored. Still losing. Hope to go shopping soon to buy smaller sizes. I love going through my closet and finding that everything is too big on me. I tried of a pair of jeans that I wore last winter on yesterday, and they were so big that when I pulled the waist out I could fit a shoe in there! I'm happy. I'm hoping to be at least 125 by the time school starts. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Leeeetsssss seee...what else...oh! I sent my reseme and headshot to The Prince Theatre because they need children for Annie Get Your Gun....and even though I am severly against AGYG and I totally hate the show...work is work. (Plus everything is always done better in Philadelphia.)

Keith left Project Runway yesterday because he had pattern books in his possesion and that was against the rules...so he had to go home. I'm gonna miss him. He was hot...and gay as I just found out. As my mom says "My gaydar is in the shop." I'm beginning to believe her, cause I thought most of the guys on Project Runway were straight and then I remembered...ITS FUCKING PROJECT RUNWAY. They're allll gay (except Vincent who is apperantly married and only makes gay hats even though he's straight.) Well, Bonnie lost the challange because her garment was ugly. HERE. And Robert was the other person in the botton two. HERE (WTF is up with that coat?!?) I was just glad that he didn't go home because now him and Kayne can continue their love affair. (So cute!) and the biggest surprise...ANGELA WON! ANGELA WON!?!?!?!?! WHO THE HELL IS SHE BLOWING?!?!?! As my friends, if you see that at Macy's I beg you not to buy it...cause I hate her. sooooo. thats it.

Name 15 fictional characters you would have sex with (in no particular order, add reasons if you wish) and then tag 4 people to do the same.

1. How could I not with all the penis references?

3. Kyle Meeks. Guh. So sexy. So gay but so fucking sexy...and yes. We would keep the baseball cap on.

4. Roger Davis. Rockstars are sexy

5. Whoever Juaquin Pheonix played in The Village. God he was so sexy in that movie.

6. Jason Carrillo. He's BI!
God. No one ever updates. Sunday is so lazy. So...I got in a flamewar on IMDB today because I have a different definition of Renthead than the person I was fighting with. In my opinion, the term Renthead is a special term reserved for people who know the show inside, outside, and standing on their head. My old friend Megan said that a Renthead is one who waits 6+ hours for rush tickets. Some people think that it is simply someone who enjoys the show more than "Oh...its a good show."

Well...Someone whose screen name included the word 'Renthead' asked about Contact, a question asked repetedly on IMDB. So I answered and said, "No offence, but if you don't know that you're screen name is a little misleading" Of course...I was flamed. Oh well. People suck.
